As a recent graduate from the University of Colorado at Denver's Masters of Urban and Regional Planning program, I am excited to apply the experience and skills I have gained to aid urban and environmental planning processes around the world. I have grown up on the front range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado with a great appreciation for the complexity, beauty and value of the natural world. As the Denver metro area has grown significantly during my lifetime, I have observed the landscape changing and responding to the demands of human society.

I have an interest in the relationship between human societies and the natural environment. A key concept that I embrace and often ponder is that of Urban Ecology. This concept can be interpreted in several ways, but for me it represents the cumulative interaction between human manufactured environments and the natural systems that we depend on. I seek to identify conflicts that arise between human and natural systems and produce solutions which encourage a healthy, sustainable urban ecology where the demand and supply of resources is balanced.

My belief is that by combining urban planning concepts with ecologically sustainable principles we will be able to analyze, create policy, plan, and design in a way that benefits the health and prosperity of the inhabitants of an urban ecosystem.
